CHICKEN

Our chickens live out on pasture in Salatin style chicken tractors. These mobile pens are moved onto a fresh "salad bar" daily.

Each chicken has plenty of room to scratch and forage. But grass and bugs only make up a small portion of their daily needs.

We source ground feed from a local mill less that two miles from our farm. This feed is made from local grains grown right here on the Palouse.

No soy
No corn
No hormones
No sub-therapeutic antibiotics

Pork

Why We Raise Pigs on Deep Bedding at Lewis Family Farms

At Lewis Family Farms, we believe that healthy land produces healthy food. That's why we raise our pigs on deep bedding—a method that benefits our farm, our animals, and ultimately, your family's table. This spring, we're excited to offer homegrown pork shares for the first time, and we want you to know exactly how we do things differently.

Our pigs are raised on thick layers of carbonaceous material such as straw and wood chips, creating an environment that mimics a natural forest floor. As the pigs root, forage, and do what pigs do best, they transform this bedding into nutrient-rich compost that we use to restore and enrich our gardens, orchards, and pastures. It's a closed-loop system where nothing goes to waste—the nutrients stay on our farm, building soil health for generations to come.

We're committed to raising our pigs as naturally as possible. Our herd is fed a corn-free, soy-free diet and raised without vaccines or antibiotics.

This careful approach, combined with their active lifestyle on deep bedding, results in pork with exceptional flavor and quality. When pigs are allowed to express their natural behaviors in a stress-free environment, you can taste the difference in every cut.

This spring, we'll be offering Whole Hog pork shares for families who want to fill their freezers with farm-fresh, responsibly raised meat. If you're looking for pork that's good for the land and good for your table, we invite you to follow along as we continue our mission to Restore The Land—one pig at a time.
